Preparing for Your Appointment
MAKEUP APPOINTMENTS
Come Prepared
Bring photos of makeup looks you like and/or a photo of your outfit. This will give me an idea of where to take your makeup look (with your input, of course).
Button Up
It’s best to wear either a button-up or wide-neck shirt to your appointment so you don’t smudge your makeup (or pull your hair) when you change your clothes later.
Fresh Faced
Please come with a clean face to your appointment and teeth brushed (moisturizer is recommended). Please remove all makeup, including mascara, prior to the appointment.
To Wax or Not to Wax
Waxing can irritate your skin so please have any facial waxing completed at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Eyelash Extensions & Lash Lifts
While false lashes (either strips or individuals) are included in your makeup application cost, we understand the love of lash extensions and lash lifts. Waterproof makeup (ie. mascara, eyeliner) is usually discouraged when wearing lash extensions because they can damage the glue – however waterproof products are beneficial for the longevity of your makeup. If you have any gaps in your lash extensions we can fill them with individual lashes if you wish.
Lash lifts are great if you are not planning to have false lashes applied during your makeup application. We are generally not able to apply false lashes on fresh lash lifts (less than 2 weeks old) as the curl is too strong and can create obvious gaps between your lashes and the falsies.
Plan Ahead
The month prior to your makeup application is a great time to start a proper skincare routine (if you don’t already have one). Be sure to:
- Wash and moisturize your face morning and night
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day
- Avoid going to bed or working out with makeup on
- Limit alcohol consumption
- Get a facial or try an at-home face mask (avoid the week of your appointment)
- Try incorporating a gentle liquid exfoliator into your skincare routine once a week
- Get at a full night’s sleep the night before your appointment
- The “no new” rule! I always recommend avoiding anything new the month of your wedding – no new skincare, foods, drinks, activities, products – you never know how your skin will react
Be Realistic
Makeup can do wonders, but it is not cosmetic surgery. My job is to enhance your natural beauty and make you feel confident in your own skin but some areas like wrinkles or severe scarring, can only be minimized.
HAIR APPOINTMENTS
Scrub-a-Dub-Dub
Wash and blow-dry your hair the night before your appointment. Your blow dry doesn’t need to be perfect because we will still prep your hair at the start of your appointment. Please do not use any styling products or heavy oils and do not curl or straighten your hair unless previously discussed with myself. If you have very fine hair you can wash and blow-dry the morning of your appointment but please make sure your hair is fully dried at the start of your appointment.
Working With Your Natural Curls
We love curls! If you would like us to work with your natural beautiful curls please wash and style your curls as usual or with either a curl cream or a light styling serum. If you do not want to work with your natural curls then please blow dry your hair straight (or book a tension blow out at your salon the day prior) but do not use a straightener.
Cut & Colour
Visit your hair salon at least 1-2 washes prior to your appointment to allow any excess hair dye to rinse out. If you are opting for highlights keep the hairstyling in mind – a half up/down style would benefit from a full head of highlights, whereas a half head of highlights are great if you are wearing your hair all down. If you are wearing your hair all down or half up, a small trim is always recommended.
Adding Length
Hair extensions are not only for length, but are also great for adding volume and giving you the Pinterest-esque hair of your dreams. Good extensions are an investment into your look and often require a bit of maintenance prior to your appointment with us so if you are looking into getting extensions please allow aa bit of time to get them prepped.

Accessorize
Bring any hair accessories you want used in your hairstyle to your appointment (including trails). I’m happy to put them in for you!
Again, having photos of some preferred hairstyles as well as coming in either a button-up or zip-up shirt is helpful!
